In this article, we will review the full HD version of Rudramadevi Telugu movie, which has a runtime of 171 minutes. We will discuss the plot, the characters, the cinematography, the music, the historical accuracy and the overall impact of the film.

The Plot

The film begins with a narration by Marco Polo (Gary Tantony), who visited the Kakatiya kingdom during Rudrama Devi's reign. He introduces the history and culture of the Kakatiyas, and their conflict with the neighbouring kingdoms of Delhi Sultanate, Devagiri Yadavas and Kakatiya rebels.

The film then shifts to the year 1259 CE, when Ganapatideva (Krishnam Raju), the emperor of the Kakatiya dynasty, is childless and seeks a successor. He adopts his nephew Hariharadeva (Suman) as his son, but soon his wife gives birth to a baby girl. Fearing that his people will not accept a female successor, he decides to raise his daughter as a boy and names her Rudradeva. He also performs an ancient ritual called Putrika, which allows a daughter to inherit her father's throne.

Rudradeva grows up as a brave and skilled warrior, and is trained by her father's loyal minister Shiva Devaiah (Prakash Raj). She also befriends two other warriors: Chalukya Veerabhadra (Rana Daggubati), the prince of Nidadavolu and her betrothed; and Gona Ganna Reddy (Allu Arjun), the leader of a bandit group who supports the Kakatiyas. Rudradeva also faces various challenges from her enemies, such as Mahadeva Nayaka (Vikramjeet Virk), a traitorous Kakatiya general who joins hands with the Delhi Sultanate; Murari Deva (Adithya Menon), a rebel chieftain who wants to overthrow Ganapatideva; and Ambadeva (Jayaprakash Reddy), a greedy minister who plots against Rudradeva.

On her coronation day, Rudradeva reveals her true identity as Rudrama Devi to her people, and declares herself as the queen of the Kakatiya kingdom. She faces opposition from some sections of her society, who consider her as an illegitimate ruler. She also faces hostility from her husband Chalukya Veerabhadra, who feels betrayed by her deception. However, she wins over the hearts of her people by her courage, wisdom and benevolence. She also reforms her administration by abolishing taxes on women and promoting education and trade. She also builds a massive fort called Warangal Fort to protect her kingdom from external threats.

Rudrama Devi then faces a series of wars with her enemies, who form an alliance to dethrone her. She is supported by her loyal friends Gona Ganna Reddy, Muktamba (Nithya Menen), Anamika Devi (Catherine Tresa) and others. She also reconciles with her husband Chalukya Veerabhadra, who realizes his mistake and apologizes to her. Together, they fight against Mahadeva Nayaka, Murari Deva and Ambadeva in various battles. In the final battle at Kagini River, Rudrama Devi defeats Mahadeva Nayaka and kills him in a duel. However, she is fatally wounded by Ambadeva's arrow and dies in the arms of her husband. She is succeeded by her grandson Prataparudra, who continues her legacy.

The Characters

The film boasts of a star-studded cast, who deliver impressive performances in their respective roles. Anushka Shetty shines as the titular character of Rudrama Devi, and portrays her with grace, dignity and strength. She convincingly portrays the different phases of Rudrama Devi's life, from a young prince to a mature queen. She also displays her action skills in the war sequences, and her emotional skills in the dramatic scenes.

Allu Arjun steals the show as Gona Ganna Reddy, the charismatic and witty bandit leader who supports Rudrama Devi. He brings a lot of energy and humour to his role, and also showcases his versatility as an actor. He also shares a good chemistry with Anushka Shetty, and provides some of the comic relief in the film.

Rana Daggubati does a decent job as Chalukya Veerabhadra, the prince of Nidadavolu and Rudrama Devi's husband. He portrays his character with sincerity and intensity, and also looks convincing as a warrior. He also has some romantic and emotional scenes with Anushka Shetty, which he handles well.

Krishnam Raju is aptly cast as Ganapatideva, the emperor of the Kakatiya dynasty and Rudrama Devi's father. He brings a lot of dignity and authority to his role, and also shows his affection for his daughter. He also has some powerful dialogues in the film, which he delivers with ease.

Prakash Raj is reliable as always as Shiva Devaiah, the loyal minister of Ganapatideva and Rudrama Devi's mentor. He plays his role with subtlety and grace, and also adds some humour to his character. He also shares a good rapport with Anushka Shetty and Krishnam Raju, and acts as a bridge between them.

Nithya Menen is charming as Muktamba, Rudrama Devi's close friend and confidante. She plays her role with innocence and sweetness, and also displays her singing talent in the film. She also has some cute scenes with Anushka Shetty, which show their friendship.

Catherine Tresa is glamorous as Anamika Devi, a princess of the Devagiri Yadavas who falls in love with Gona Ganna Reddy. She plays her role with confidence and style, and also looks stunning in her costumes. She also has some romantic scenes with Allu Arjun, which are enjoyable to watch.

The other supporting actors such as Suman, Adithya Menon, Jayaprakash Reddy, Vikramjeet Virk, Baba Sehgal and others do their parts well and add value to the film.

The Cinematography

The film is visually stunning, thanks to the cinematography by Ajay Vincent. He captures the grandeur and beauty of the Kakatiya kingdom, and also creates a realistic atmosphere for the war scenes. He uses different colours and tones to depict the different moods and emotions of the film. He also makes good use of the 3D technology, which enhances the visual appeal of the film.

The Music

The film has a melodious and soulful music score by maestro Ilayaraja. He composes some memorable songs for the film, which suit the mood and theme of the film. Some of the songs that stand out are "Anthapuramlo", "Auna Neevena", "Punnami Puvvai" and "Choodaku Choodaku". He also creates an effective background score for the film, which elevates the scenes to another level.

The Historical Accuracy

The film is based on historical facts, but also takes some creative liberties for cinematic purposes. The film tries to depict the life and times of Rudrama Devi as accurately as possible, but also adds some fictional elements to make it more entertaining. Some of the historical inaccuracies in the film are:

  • The film shows that Rudrama Devi revealed her true identity on her coronation day, but in reality she did it much later in her reign.

  • The film shows that Chalukya Veerabhadra was angry with Rudrama Devi for hiding her gender from him, but in reality he was aware of it from the beginning and supported her.

  • The film shows that Gona Ganna Reddy was a bandit leader who supported Rudrama Devi, but in reality he was a feudal lord who rebelled against her at first and later became her ally.

  • The film shows that Mahadeva Nayaka was a general of the Delhi Sultanate, but in reality he was a local chieftain who fought against Rudrama Devi.

  • The film shows that Rudrama Devi died in the battle of Kagini River, but in reality she died in the battle of Chandupatla.

However, these historical inaccuracies do not take away the essence and spirit of the film, which is to celebrate the life and achievements of Rudrama Devi, one of the greatest women rulers of India.

The Overall Impact

The film is a commendable attempt by Gunasekhar to bring the story of Rudrama Devi to the silver screen. The film is a visual spectacle, with grand sets, costumes, effects and action sequences. The film is also a tribute to the rich culture and heritage of the Kakatiya dynasty, which is often overlooked in Indian history. The film is also a message of women empowerment, as it showcases the courage and wisdom of Rudrama Devi, who defied the norms of her society and ruled with justice and compassion. The film is also an entertaining and engaging watch, with a good mix of drama, romance, comedy and thrill. The film is a must-watch for all those who love history, culture and cinema.

In conclusion, Rudramadevi Telugu Movie Full HD 171 is a well-made film that tells the story of one of the most remarkable women in Indian history. The film has a stellar cast, a splendid music score, a stunning cinematography and a gripping plot.
